As we finish our fourth week here at Learning Works Summer Camp, I have been reflecting on how much your children have accomplished.  We have been on six field trips and have learned so much about nature, art and the importance of reading every day.

On Wednesday we went to the Portland Public Library.  They will be coming home with a new book!

We have been running enrichment clubs all week. These have included Japanese Watercolor and Poetry, Theater, Jewelry Making, Origami, Cooking and Ukulele Lessons.   Ukulele and Theater gave us performances that showcased what they have learned! We have a very busy week planned for our last week of Learning Works Summer Camp.  We have Popsicle Monday, Gelato Tuesday, Pancake Breakfast/Celebration of Learning Wednesday and Field Day/Subway Picnic on Thursday. We also have Maine College of Art students running clubs everyday next week. Please be sure to join us for our Pancake Breakfast and Celebration of Learning on Wednesday August 9th from 8:00 - 9:00.  You will be amazed at all the work your children have been doing!

Wow, We have finished our second week of Learning Works Summer Camp!  We had three field trips this week.  We went to see a play about Peter Pan at Mayo street on Monday.  There were puppets and sword fights.

On Thursday we went to the Art Museum.  We learned about the process of making different forms of art.  They sketched some of the beautiful art they observed and learned about light, shadows, and how to use different kinds of materials.

On Wednesday we went to the Audubon where we learned about pollinating plants.  We walked through the trails and played games as well.
